The chemagic Prime instrument - Testimonial
"We perform HLA typing of unrelated donors for various donor registries using high throughput NGS. We have been using the chemagen kits in conjunction with the MSM I system to isolate the DNA from these samples for many years now. As our sample numbers increased drastically over the past two years, we were in the need for additional systems for high throughput DNA isolation. Therefore, we recently bought two chemgic Prime systems, which we use to process an average of 4000-5000 samples per month. Revvity offers an excellent service with very competent programmers. All of our wishes regarding specified protocols were fulfilled to our utmost satisfaction. We also appreciate the high quality of the isolated DNA that we obtain from both, blood samples and buccal swabs."

Features
The chemagic Prime instrument is a powerful solution for high-throughput automated DNA and RNA purification and automated assay setup. The chemagic Prime instrument combines chemagen’s patented M-PVA Magnetic Bead Technology with liquid handling capabilities, providing automated sample preparation by handling various primary sample tubes and fully automated isolation of ultra-pure, high integrity nucleic acids from diverse sample types. The instrument performs downstream processing e.g. PCR setup, normalization or eluate transfer to storage tubes.
The platform boasts fully traceable sample preparation, consistent performance and the flexibility to meet custom workflows demands. Benefit from its diverse tube handling, automated barcode tracking, quality assurance features to reduce cross-contamination, high throughput capability (up to 192 samples/run), large sample volume range (up to 10 ml), and user-friendly operation. With a wide selection of kits, the instrument can isolate DNA, RNA, cfDNA, pathogen nucleic acids and more, enabling the usage of one system for multiple assays. The technology behind it utilizes transiently magnetized rods to attract beads after binding to nucleic acids, obtaining nucleic acids of high yield, integrity and purity, proven to increase downstream success in diverse applications including long read sequencing, NGS, MLPA, PCR and more.

Applications with chemagic Prime instrument
High-throughput blood donor screening
High-throughput blood donor screening
Using the chemagic Prime instrument, up to 552 blood bags are analyzed routinely, with high traceability and sensitivity for detecting HIV (AIDS virus), HCV (hepatitis C virus), HBV (hepatitis B virus) and malaria with the NAT Plus HIV/HBV/HCV/Malaria Kit developed by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz). This has helped reduce the waiting period to donate blood after visiting an endemic area from 1 year to 1 month and has successfully reduced the risk of pathogen transmission due to contaminated blood1.
Genetic study of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Vietnamese children
The chemagic Prime instrument played a crucial role in isolating high-quality DNA from 254 saliva samples, which was essential for the study’s subsequent high resolution SNP genotyping. This technique enabled the identification of pathogenic and likely pathogenic mutations in children with autism spectrum disorder. The automation and precision of the chemagic Prime system significantly enhanced the efficiency and consistency of sample processing, underscoring its importance in large-scale genetic research2.
Pathogen surveillance from swabs and wastewater
Multiple studies have demonstrated the application of the chemagic Prime instrument for the high-throughput and sensitive detection of SARS-CoV-2 from samples including blood, pharyngeal swabs, environmental surface swabs and wastewater3,4,5,6. The ability of chemagic Kits to extract nucleic acids from a wide range of pathogens and the unique feature of the chemagic Prime instrument in handling diverse sample/eluate tubes and plates makes it a reliable yet versatile solution.
chemagic Prime Kits
Kits are available for the isolation of DNA and RNA from various specimens such as whole blood, saliva, plasma, and many more. We provide chemagic Prime Kits that have been validated on the chemagic Prime instrument.
All kits come ready-to-use with plastic consumables included and are based on well-established chemagic M-PVA Magnetic Bead and buffer chemistry. For applications not listed, please contact us.
